57. The Story Girl

Just another great little book by L.M. Montgomery. (author of Anne of Green Gables)

56. Great American Short Stories

I started this book about a year ago and just now picked it back up to finish it. I love a really great short story. There are 30 stories in this collection and I thought about 1/2 of them were good. None of them stopped me in my tracks as awesome.
My all time favorite short story is called "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson (it is not in this collection). I have often wondered if the Hunger Games were based off of this story. That should give you some idea as to what it is about.

I recommend this book if you want a taste of some classic short stories.

55. The Christmas Note

Been my lucky month! I love this book also.

I would like to read her other books as well.

It is about neighbors Gretchen & Melissa. They are about the same age but completely different. Gretchen is married to a soldier and  has 2 kids. Melissa is 39 & single and is a really grumpy and prickly person.

This story takes many unexpected turns about friendship, family, and faith. I highly recommend!

54. The House of Silk

Great book also. This is a new Sherlock Holmes and Watson book sanctioned by the Conan Doyle foundation.

Enough said. If you love Holmes/Watson, you will love this book.

53. I've Got Your Number

Another great surprise! Loved this book!!

Summary from Amazon:

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages.

Highly recommend :)

52. Home Front

Great story!! So I won't tell you much. It is about a couple, Jolene & Michael. After 12 year of marriage and 2 kids, things are a little rocky. Growing apart a bit. Then Jolene gets deployed to Iraq. I was really surprised at how much I liked this book. Highly recommend.

51. The House at Riverton

Ever see the movie The Legend of the Falls with Brad Pitt?? You know the one where pretty much everyone dies and no one gets to be with the one they love. Drama and pain!

Well, that is the same with this book. If that is your thing, then read it. No one ends up happily married, lots of people die, the end.
